They are typically set to about 15% over the thermostat’s maximum control temperature which will automatically cause the heating circuit to go into the open position. The circuit will not go live again until the reset button is pressed. This thermostat is normally positioned in an out-of-the-way position so it cannot be easily overridden by users.
